About Your Coach

Your coach will be a nonprofit giving expert with 20+ years of experience in philanthropy as well as significant exposure to the freshest best practices in the field. Carefully vetted by the team of Discover Philanthropy, your coach is guaranteed to be a subject matter expert who has successfully navigated many of the challenges you are facing as a donor. Additionally, your coach is backed by a team of nonprofit experts, so if any particular question you ask is new to your coach, they will access advice from other skilled coaches, nonprofit experts, and financial advisors who have worked with that problem before!

Your coach’s subjects of expertise include (but are not limited to):

• Giving as partnership

• Planned giving vehicles (bequests, living wills, insurance, etc)

• Assessing nonprofit organizations for social and fiscal responsibility

• Mission development

• Nonprofit sector excellence

Note that your coach is not a financial or legal advisor.

What’s Involved?

Your coach will reach out to you by email within 2 business weeks after your purchase of this package to begin your coaching relationship and schedule your meetings at your convenience.

Each meeting will be up to 1.5 hours long, based on your preference. Your coach will also be accessible by email to answer brief questions or help you assess additional ideas you want feedback on. Your coach will be proactive, actively helping you explore your giving strategy. It’s okay if you don’t know what questions to ask! Your coach will help you find the right questions that lead to the answers you desire.

(Optional) Personalized Giving Options Review

If you select this option, your coach will spend part of your first meeting discussing the types of organizations you like to give to and your preferences for giving, and helping you define your personal or family “mission”. After this meeting, your coach will research high quality nonprofit organizations that fit your expressed interests (location, mission, causes served, faith-based or not, stage of organizational growth, relational opportunities, etc). Your coach will compile a report for you recommending nonprofit organizations that you can consider adding to your giving portfolio to better express your “mission” and giving preferences. Your report will be delivered to you by email as a PDF document. Your coach will discuss the report with you at your next coaching meeting, if you purchased more than one coaching meeting.

Renewing the Coaching Relationship

If at any time you realize you want to continue meeting with your coach, you may purchase another package to renew the coaching relationship. We will always attempt to re-match you with the same coach you had before, but this may not always be possible.
